Welcome

All that we behold and perceive by our senses bears undeniable witness to the existence of God--the stone and the cloud, the plants and the trees, the living creatures, the heavens and the earth and the stars, the dry land and the ocean, the fire and the air, substance and accident. Indeed, we ourselves are the chief witnesses to Him. But just as the bat sees only at night and cannot see in the daytime because of the weakness of its sight, which is dazzled by the full light of the sun, so also the human mind is too weak to behold the full glory of the Divine Majesty. --- Al-Ghazzali

Selections from Diwan-I Kabir-Mevlana Jalal Al-Din Rumi

There are great scholars who managed to show the directions to be followed by the nations throughout the history. It is their lasting works that convey the words and thoughts of these scholars to us. We can know and learn about them only by means of their works. The first condition of improvement and development is to know the past well. For, if one who studies on any subject does not know the studies of the past and does not know that subject, his study may be merely a repetition of the ones in the past as a result.

Mevlana (Mawlana) will be remembered as a symbol of tolerance and goodness as long as these works remain. Mevlana (Mawlana) builds and burns the hearts as a Sufi and scholar who perfected the fire of love that he brought from Khorasan(Afghanistan) to Konya, Anatolia (Turkey).

Enjoy these selections from his writings, poems and thoughts.

Come, come whoever you are,

An unbeliever, a fire worshipper, come.

Our covenant is not of desperation.

Even if you have broken your vows a hundred times,

Come, come again.

--Mevlana Jalalu'ddin Rumi--

*Oh the well behaving, decourous and soft natured servant! You became the captive of your body like a child. Get rid of captivity and misery! You are no longer a child; you grew the teeth of intellect. Show them and get ready to eat the meal of the world of meaning.

---

*My eyes saw the beauties, beautiful ones, various animals, plants, heavens, those You created and told Your magnificent attributes, the power of creation to the heart without lips and tongue. When the heart heard the things told by the eye, the heart became entirely eye.

---

*Throw yourself to fire as the moth throws itself to candle; burn and be burnt, thus illuminate your heart and soul! Throw this worn out body which was worn away year by year by your

wonderment; move to a fresh body, to a new one.

---

*He came home but we rushed into streets as madmen. We are looking for him. We are shouting, "Where is that moonfaced?" However, he was shouting, "I am here" inside the house. I even was not aware of the sound coming from the house. I was shouting everywhere, "where are you?"

---

*If I die in the shade of cypress of your rose garden, hundreds of thousands of roses grow then.

---

*Friends, it is spring now. Let us go by the Cypress trees. Let us wake the fate which weltered as the fate of beloved.

---

*I became joyful by love in this world. I became inebriated by love. I saw someone and asked "Who are you?" He said, " I am the sultan of Inn." *I drink from the same bowl with love wherever I am it seems to me as if I always stay in inn, as if I travel within inns wherever I travel."

---

That soil grows flowers and roses. It says, "we are drunk here and there".
